Hope everyone had a fabulous New Year’s Eve! My Husband and I are hanging out in Key West over the New Year’s holiday. We are meeting up with some good friends for my darling Kristi’s 50th birthday! As much as we both travel, my husband and I don’t get to go together very often so this is a special treat!
My wish for y’all this year is to take on some awesome adventures with your family and friends as often as you can!
My next big adventure is planning a trip to Greece with my good girlfriend Leanne for this April. We are going to be in Athens for a few days then off to Crete and want to hit one of the other Grecian islands as well.
I would so appreciate any comments for suggestions on must-see places.
These are some of the Knoxville Local Charities who have received funds.
100 Women Who Care gets together once a quarter — each woman donating $100. WWC combines our $100 checks and donates to a local charity. There are chapters all over the US — just find the one in your locality (here) and get involved.
The charity that we funded last quarter was the Florence Crittenton Agency which provides shelter and counseling for adolescent girls. The representative spoke of their current work with Human Trafficking Victims.
The Crittenton Youth Services (CYS) program is a specialized structured group home that is adaptable to meet the individual needs of adolescent girls, ages 13 to 18, who have experienced family crisis as a result of moderate to severe behavioral, emotional, or related substance abuse issues. Informed by assessment, treatment plans are tailored to provide access to a host of therapeutic and educational programs. Lasting approximately 90 days, young women work to understand and overcome barriers to success and stability through group educations, academic support and credit recovery, as well as through referral to intensive individual therapy, family therapy, and substance abuse treatments as appropriate. All of our clients leave the program with improved communication and social interaction, an awareness of and control over anger and impulsive behaviors, and clearly defined academic and personal goals. Ultimately, we are preparing our clients to reunite with families or transition to independent living.
You have probably heard of the young Florida student who was bullied in September for wearing his homemade University of Tennessee shirt for his school’s “College Colors Day”. News story (here).
UT was so enamored with the student’s story that they have set up a scholarship for him to attend UT when he graduates high school. The University also designed a shirt with his drawing and have allocated that the proceeds from the shirt are being donated to Anti-Bullying foundations like Stand for the Silent . We bought a few of the shirts to give away and made our small contribution. It has been a great conversation starter about the young boy and a feeling of goodwill with everyone who you see around town.

We hosted a fabulous Christmas Dinner with my wonderful girlfriends Tricia and Lisa and their significant others Jason and Gerry. I was so excited to get out all of my festive Christmas table settings. It had been so long since I put out my Pottery Barn Reindeer that I had to do some major polishing — but isn’t it beautiful?? Check out my post on Hosting a Fabulous Christmas Dinner Party.
The Prime Rib was delicious!
Hostess Tip: Make sure to serve MEDIUM sized baked potatoes. My huge potatoes did not fully cook so we had a “crunchy” baked potato fail! No worries as it was still a good time had by all.
Hope all of you Goddesses took advantage of this Rakuten deal for your Christmas shopping this year!!!! This statement is just the cash back for purchases — I usually got an extra 15 – 30% off when I added Rakuten before checkout.

My sister Heather Wiersema is an Independent Norwex sales consultant. These products are chemical free and absolutely beautiful at cleaning your home. She has sent me several of the goodies over the year and my favorite is the dusting mitt (here).
The Norwex Dusting Mitt is a chemical-free solution to dusting. It attracts dust like a magnet and even keeps it from resettling. Just slip this dustcloth Dusting Mitt on your hand and you’re ready to go! The static electricity created as the Dusting Mitt passes over a surface allows it to effectively pick up dust from all surfaces, leaving your home cleaner so you can breathe easier.
Here are the best romance books from some fabulous authors that I absolutely adore this year. As you all know, I am a reader and romance reads are un-apologetically my favorite. Perusing myGoodreads account, it shows that I racked up 88 books in 2019! Beat my 75 book challenge for the year. There are probably a few more as I sometimes forget to update the account with the paperback books that I buy. In any event, in no particular order, here are my faves for Best Romance Books from some Fabulous Authors of 2019.
About this Jill Shalvis Book Giveaway! These beautiful books were all signed by Ms. Shalvis when I met her at JR Ward’s Readers on the River event in Louisville this fall. She was wonderful to chat with and such a lovely soul! Please note that these are all gently used books in great condition. You know I had to read them before I gave them away!
Please Note: We use the Random Name Picker on miniwebtool.com for the drawing.
